CATALINA ISLANDS, COSTA RICA

Dive One of Costa Rica's Most Iconic Underwater Landscapes

Rising from Costa Rica's North Pacific, the Catalina Islands are home to volcanic formations, thriving marine life, and some of the country's most rewarding dives. Whether it's your first ocean dive or your hundredth, every visit offers something different beneath the surface.

WHY DIVE IN THE CATALINA ISLADS?

A World-Class Dive Destination on Costa Rica's Pacific Coast

Just off the coast of Guanacaste, the Catalina Islands are a collection of volcanic rock formations that have become one of Costa Rica's premier dive destinations. Their dramatic underwater terrain, seasonal upwellings, and nutrient-rich waters support an incredible diversity of marine life throughout the year.

Diving for Every Experience Level

From calm, shallow reefs ideal for beginners to deeper sites for advanced divers, the Catalina Islands offer a variety of experiences suited to different skill levels.

Seasonal Marine Life Encounters

Depending on the season, you may encounter giant Pacific manta rays, eagle rays, mobula rays, sea turtles, white-tip reef sharks, octopus, moray eels, nudibranchs, and large schools of tropical fish.

  • Manta Ray season is from December to May, peak moths are February and March
